HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Geno Smith, the former Seattle Seahawks quarterback who was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders nearly a month ago, has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $75 million, according to ESPN. The deal includes $66.5 million in guaranteed money and extends Smith’s contract through the 2027 season.
Geno Smith Signs $75 Million Extension with Raiders

The Raiders acquired Smith from the Seahawks on March 7 in exchange for a third-round draft pick. Initially, they did not finalize an extension, as Smith had one year remaining on his existing contract. However, General Manager John Spytek expressed confidence earlier this week at the NFL meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, that an agreement would be reached soon. “We’re looking forward to having him not just for this year, but for the years to come,” Spytek stated Tuesday.
Smith, a 34-year-old two-time Pro Bowler, is reuniting with first-year Raiders head coach Pete Carroll. Carroll played a crucial role in revitalizing Smith’s career when he brought him to Seattle in 2019. At that time, Smith had struggled to find stability after stints with the New York Jets, New York Giants, and Los Angeles Chargers.
In 2022, under Carroll’s guidance, Smith excelled as the Seahawks’ starting quarterback, leading the league with a 69.8% completion rate while throwing for 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. His performance earned him the NFL Comeback Player of the Year award. Last season, Smith threw for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns with 15 interceptions.
Carroll is optimistic about replicating their past success with the Raiders, who are seeking to improve after three consecutive losing seasons. The reunion between Smith and Carroll offers a promising start to their new chapter in Las Vegas.
Geno Smith’s new contract with the Las Vegas Raiders solidifies his role as the team’s starting quarterback through 2027, following his trade from the Seattle Seahawks. The two-year extension worth $75 million, with $66.5 million guaranteed, reflects the Raiders’ commitment to stabilizing their quarterback position under the leadership of head coach Pete Carroll. Smith’s arrival marks a fresh start for the franchise after consecutive losing seasons, offering hope for a turnaround in 2025.
