The NLDS series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres has been a rollercoaster of emotions. In Game 3, the Dodgers faced a major setback, highlighted by a disastrous inning that shifted the momentum in favor of their rivals. As the tension between the two teams continues to rise, this crucial game has taken on added significance. Stay tuned for live updates as we follow the action and analyze the implications for the rest of the series.
The National League Division Series moves to San Diego following a split of the initial two games between the Padres and Dodgers in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers secured victory in Game 1 on Saturday; however, the Padres responded strongly on Sunday, achieving a decisive win that was marred by unsightly incidents involving fans in Los Angeles who threw objects onto the field.
“If I were the commissioner of baseball, I would not permit a Game 5 at their venue,” stated Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada during a press conference on Monday, referring to the beer cans, bottles, and baseballs that were hurled onto the field and into the bullpen. “Why would you want to risk a repeat of that situation?”
Walker Buehler is set to start for the Dodgers in Game 3 on Tuesday night, while Michael King will take the mound for the Padres. King delivered an impressive performance in the first game of San Diego’s wild-card series sweep against Atlanta, pitching seven scoreless innings and recording 12 strikeouts.
Fernando Tatis Jr. home run gives Padres 6-1 lead
Fernando Tatis Jr. launched a two-run home run to left field during the bottom of the second inning, concluding a challenging inning for the Dodgers and their starting pitcher, Walker Buehler. This marks Tatis Jr.’s fourth home run in five games during this postseason.

Padres capitalize on LA mistakes to take 4-1 lead
Walker Buehler’s second inning devolved into chaos following a leadoff single. Two fielder’s choices and an error by Freddie Freeman enabled the Padres to equalize the score. With runners positioned on first and third, David Peralta hit a two-RBI double along the right field line, extending the lead to 3-1.
A subsequent single advanced Peralta to third base, creating an opportunity for Kyle Higashioka’s sacrifice fly, which allowed the Padres to score their fourth run, finally recording the first out of the inning.

Mookie Betts home run puts Dodgers up in first
Mookie Betts ignited the festivities in Game 3 with a solo home run against Padres starter Michael King in the first inning, just out of reach of Padres left fielder Jurickson Profar’s glove.
Betts had been struggling in the postseason, with a batting average of .068 (3 for 44) over his last 12 playoff appearances dating back to the 2021 NLCS.
This moment closely resembled a notable incident from Game 2, where Profar had leapt into the stands to deny Betts a home run and took a moment to celebrate with the fans.
